Why Can't Stock Be Removed After Products Have Been Sold?
Overview
In SellarPro, stock records cannot be deleted or removed once sales have been recorded against a product. This is an intentional system safeguard designed to maintain accurate inventory levels, sales history, and financial reports.
Why This Restriction Exists
When a product is sold, SellarPro automatically updates multiple areas of the system, including:
-
Inventory quantities
-
Sales records
-
Profit calculations
-
Stock valuation
-
Business reports
Deleting the product or its stock record after these transactions would compromise data integrity and result in inaccurate inventory and financial reporting.
Recommended Action
If the objective is to stop selling the product, consider one of the following options instead:
-
Mark the product as inactive or hide it from future sales.
-
Perform a Stock Adjustment if the physical stock quantity needs to be corrected.
-
Edit the product details if changes are required.
These actions preserve transaction history while ensuring inventory records remain accurate.
When Can a Product Be Removed?
A product can only be deleted if it has no sales, purchase, or inventory transaction history associated with it.
Best Practice
Before deleting a product, verify that it has not been used in any transactions. If sales have already been recorded, use the appropriate inventory management feature rather than attempting to remove the product.
Support
If further clarification is required or the behavior appears inconsistent with the above, escalate the issue to the Product Team for review.
